The front of an abandoned building in Vacaville.

It’s Official! Here’s What’s Moving Into ‘Saks Off 5th’ Building

Saks Off 5th came to Vacaville in 2016 but didn’t last long at its E. Monte Vista location near the Nut Tree Plaza.  The building is currently undergoing some major renovation and a prominent liquor license application notice adorns the front door.

That liquor license is pretty important for the new tenant, Total Wine and More.

Total Wine and More markets itself as the largest independent retailer of fine wine.  The company began in Delaware in 1991. It operates over 250 stores in 27 states. And those stores are known to be very large by liquor store standards.

The 22,698 square-foot store will be consistent with the size of the chain’s other stores. For reference, BevMo stores (like the one across the street) average 10,000 square feet in size.

Total Wine already has locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento region. The new location in Vacaville seeks to bridge a gap between the two. Pleasant Hill and Sacramento are currently the two locations closest to Vacaville.

They’re hiring too! A job posting for an assistant retail manager in Vacaville is active on the Total Wine recruiting page at the time of this writing.

Time will tell if Vacaville can support a large alcohol retailer, but in the meantime…cheers!
