Vacaville Cultural Center Library Closing for Extended Remodel

The Vacaville Cultural Center Library, located on Ulatis Drive, will undergo an extensive remodel and expansion beginning in August of 2024. The construction is estimated to continue through November of 2025. Here are the details on the renovation and closure of the Cultural Center Library in Vacaville.

Friday, August 23rd, 2024 will be the last day of operation for the library before the closure.

The Vacaville Library District Board approved a $24.5 million budget for renovation and expansion of the facility. The funds will be financed through the Library District’s savings of public facility fees, property taxes, sales taxes, rental income, and interest revenue over a ten-year period.

The completed renovation will include a new conference room, multipurpose room, and outdoor courtyard added to the facility’s northeast corner. Approximately 3,600 square feet of space will be added to the facility. The existing building will be modernized with a new look and feel. Mechanical, electrical, and structural systems will be upgraded and will be more energy efficient.

The existing Vacaville Cultural Center was built in 1993 and is part of the Solano County Library system. While maintenance projects occurred over the last 31 years, no major renovation has taken place and it’s due for upgrades.

How Long Will It Take?

The renovation project will last approximately 15 months, beginning in August, 2024 and continuing through November, 2025.

Will the Entire Cultural Center Be Closed?

No. The renovation and expansion is for the library, which is only a portion of the Vacaville Cultural Center. Other segments of the facility, including the Vacaville Performing Arts Center (VPAT), should not be impacted.

Fencing will be erected around the library and construction will occur Monday – Friday.

What Service Impacts Should You Expect?

The closure will impact services at the Vacaville Cultural Center Library. You will not be able to check out or return library materials during the closure. The Town Square Library in downtown Vacaville will accept all returns of materials checked out at the Cultural Center. The Town Square Library will also extend its hours to accommodate for increased use during the closure.

As the project progresses, updates will be provided and limited services may return to the Cultural Center.

Phone calls made directly to the Vacaville Cultural Center Library will be forwarded to the Town Square Library during the renovation.
