NO Fiesta Days Carnival in 2024 – And Other Changes! (VACAVILLE)
In a dramatic change for the Vacaville Fiesta Days celebration, there will be no carnival this year! Event coordinators announced on Facebook that this year’s annual event will not include the beloved carnival, which has historically hosted games, rides and much more. Also, it will be a single-day event rather than span all of Memorial Day weekend.
Why the change? The Vacaville Fiesta Days events page stated “Our community is the priority and safety for our guests.”
The Fiesta Days carnival’s most recent two years have been marked with eruptions of violence. In 2023, Vacaville Police stated numerous fights broke out during the event and one person was arrested with a firearm. The carnival closed early one day due to the violence.
In 2022, a fight broke out between two 18 year-olds which resulted in gunfire. An off-duty Vacaville Police Officer quickly took action to stop the armed suspect.
The 2024 Fiesta Days will still include other staples of the local festival on May 25th, including:
Since 1957, the Vacaville Fiesta Days has been held on Memorial Day weekend. The festival honors Mexican heritage, but has been a (mostly) family-friendly event for all. With numerous events scheduled throughout the weekend, Fiesta Days historically had something for everyone.
The carnival has included traditional carnival rides and games in Andrews Park. It sadly won’t be happening in 2024. The festivities will only be on Saturday, May 25th.
