Benicia Library

The City of Benicia operates its library independent of the Solano County Library system. Its current location opened in 1993 and is partially funded by Measure L funding from Solano County property taxes.

Dixon Library

Dixon has a single library. It is a more recent addition to the Solano County library system since it joined in 2020. It was originally founded in 1912 and was one of the few remaining Carnegie Library buildings still in operation.

Fairfield Library

Fairfield has two libraries. One in downtown and one in Cordelia to serve residents on the west side of town.

Vacaville has two libraries. One is near downtown and the other at the Cultural Center on Ulatis Drive.

Vallejo is the largest city by population in Solano County and has two main libraries and an innovative book locker for additional access to library services.

The Vallejo First 5 Book Locker is a project supported with funding from the State of California which provides for an alternative location to pick up and return books from the Solano County Library system. Anyone with a Solano County Library card can use the locker.

About Solano County’s Libraries

The Solano County library system was established in 1914. It is headquartered in downtown Fairfield and there are over 197,000 cardholders as of 2024. Solano County Library is funded through a variety of sources including property taxes and voter-approved initiatives. The system administers numerous local programs centered around reading and youth activities.

The City of Benicia operates its own library which is independent of the Solano County library system.
